Comments: | Winnie Vee Abbott was born on March 5, 1929 on her family’s farm in Como, Texas to Benjamin and Loma Cotten. She was the sixth of nine children. While visiting her sister, Demple Morris, who lived in Princeton, she met her husband, Herbert Lee Abbott, while they were both picking cotton in Mr. Talley’s cotton patch. They married on December 1, 1945 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Winnie worked in the cafeteria at PISD for twenty-three years where she retired as the Cafeteria Manager. She kept the nursery at her church, First Baptist Princeton, for many years. She was also the substitute teacher in her Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, J.B. Cotten, Dalton Cotten, and John Cotten, and sisters, Demple Morris and Lois Sells. Survivors include her son, Larry Abbott and wife, Sandra; son, Terry Abbott and wife, Diana; grandchildren, Holly Osborne and husband, Glenn, Tammy Brown and husband, Mark, Dena Moody and husband, Jeff, Jason Abbott, Jake Abbott and wife, Becca, Madison Abbott and fiancé Jacob; great grandchildren, Alexis Pugh, Ryan Osborne and wife, Alexis, Kyle Osborne and fiancé, Lexy, Caitlin Kirkbride and husband, Chucky, Wyatt Abbott and Nathan Pugh; great great grandchildren, twins, Chucky and Charlee Kirkbride, Mason Moody and Xander Osborne; sister, Nell Carpenter; brother, Kim Cotten, a niece, who was like her daughter, Paula Sprinkle, and many other nephews and nieces. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2024 at Princeton Cemetery in Princeton, Texas. The family will receive guests for a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. |
